Two new WRs.

• ElmaConf12wide: with this version of the config tool for Elma 1.2 you can get widscreen resolutions
• Elma Online Beta: with this you can play the multiplayer option of Elma online, read the readme file for installation instructions

Development work can be followed and participated in the New versions forum of Mopolauta. Hopefully all these new things will be added to just one patch, which could be called Elma 1.3.

milagros made a patch for playing Elma levels online. Unlike the eol patch, you cannot play multiplayer, because everyone has their own apples to pick. In Ballelma, you play alone, but you can see everyone else on the same level as you. This creates a whole new experience when for example playing battles. Or your team can invent styles
together in a cup event.

Players are identifiable by different shirts, that are defined by BMP images. The download contains quite a few images, but more can be downloaded from Viper_KillerGuy's page.

Please note that Ballelma is still in early development, it is rather stable now but crashes may occur. There are installation instructions in the bs9_readme.txt file. For now, I am running the only, temporary server so far (IP 81.231.66.238, may change).

If you are connecting through a router and can't see the other players, you have to make sure that NAT (network address translation) is off, or enable port forwarding. More help.

If you have a Windows and/or Linux server that can be used as a more reliable alternative, please contact milagros. The server program is very small and uses very little memory and CPU, the only thing that needs to be fairly good is the Internet connection.

Not too often I mark Records update High priority but this time it's certainly worth it: John passed TorInge! The leader of the total times competition was changed.

Total times competition is the most famous Elma contest and the gloriest status a player can reach in the Elasto Mania. It's a place where only the very greatest players have been: Champi0N, KingKong, pajen, zyntifox, dz, Zweq, TorInge and now John! Big grats to him.

This is the day of John! He also won some GAAs (SveinR will post results later).

The Third Step of the voting process has started. The deadline of sending in your votes in January 2nd, 23:59 EET.

Finally Nations pages are launched.

The system is built that users will be able to create contents themselves: general text, history events, links and a section to have some text in own language. That's because admins don't have time to write texts for each nations and of course we don't know too much about all the nations.

So if you think you could write texts for your country please contact us. You can drop a line in this news item comments. More info in FAQ.

The system doesn't support back-upping (too much work to code right now) and therefore you are expected to copy back-ups of the texts to Mopolauta. An example: Finnish. I try to write stuff to Finnish pages so you get a better idea of the concept. It's a bit wiki-style. People can discuss in the topic and improve the contents. But only the nation-admins can edit the page.

History events might contain information about the first WRs, meetings and other big happenings regarding the nation.

The voting process for the Golden Apple Awards 2006 has started. Note that you have to make nominations in the first step in order to be able to vote in the third step later on.
