,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, An interview of MUe (kuski of month on March 2001): ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' -= Ex Teams: =- In last October we created TEA (The Elastic Aborigines.) My teammates are MGen, Csabi, and Tomcat. In those days only we played Elma seriously in Hungary. -= Best WRs in your own opinion? =- The first Steppes and Freefall WRs with the new trick made by Karlis: they were shocking. -= Current total: =- 49:58,58 Obviously my purpose is not to be the best player. I played internals until I got my non-Farsund title. Now I play absolutely for fun, I don't enjoy hardcore höyling to improve 0.01 sec. -= Location: =- In the capital of Hungary, Budapest, in the same city as Balazs. (Dear Psy: Balazs doesn't live in Kathunthuli village :)) -= Across Career briefly? How did you get Across/Elma? Was it your worst mistake? or best..? =- In the Feb of 1998, I found Across Shareware on the CD of the biggest hungarian game magazine called "Pc Guru". Firstly I saw just a screenshot, but I felt immediately it is a special game. I played it horrible much, I played the full version through on the first day. My brother Blt wrote a program to count the spent time: I have played Across for full 300 hours... (Elma is more) Since my favourite hobby was graphics, I started to create pictures about Elma. I sent them to Balazs. He said they are cool, and wanted to use them as an intro picture of Elma. We met, and he said he needed animated objects, textures too. That was how I got acquainted with him. Later, the Elma was released, and the Elmaworld started its blossoming period. I didn't understand why elma wasn't popular in Hungary. I asked computer magazines to issue Elma ShareWare on their CD-s, and they did it. Then I asked Pc Guru magazine if it is interested in a permanent Elma column. I was really surprised, because they said yes. This work started in Nov of 2000, the number of hungarian players are growing quickly. :) Once Elbono came to me, and asked me about a new version, and new official levels. I liked the idea, but Balazs didn't want to release any new version or patch. OLP seemed to be a possible solution, which Balazs accepted. OLP was released, and now everybody is happy. :) That's my Elma career. Btw Elma was my best decision, because in my opinion everyone needs some kind of mania. -= Favourite internals / most irritating internals: =- Favourite: Upside Down Most irritating: Enigma. When at last I succeeded in jumping over the killers, I can't do the bounce. -= Is there some kind of external contests you like? =- There is a Hungarian Cup here. I like it, I have a chance to win. -= Best lgr in your mind? Which lgr do you use? =- The original. -= Favourite music and movies? =- Fatboy Slim (Sho Nuff is my fav song) I don't have one fav movie, I have FIVE! (I can't miss any of them!) 1. Breakdown with Michael Douglas 2. American Beauty 3. Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels 4. Dumb and Dumber 5. Pay it Forward -= Your opinion about MC Studios: =- I like every kind of creativity. And if a creativity has some relationship with Elma, it can't be bad! "Never cared for what they plaaaay" cool... :)) -= Mention some good things you have gotten with Across/elma? =- I have gotten the best game ever and a lot of fun. Very good friends (including Balazs). Inspiration to create things. Job at the Pc Guru magazine as a contributor. A cool Elma poster from Pexi (it is placed over my bed). -= Mention some bad things you have gotten with Across/elma? =- Very little bad things, just some offended ppl about Olp. -= Do you want Elma scene will be kept up forever? =- I want it stay until somebody make a better game. But I think it's impossible, Elma is perfect. -= What is the most fucking thing has happened to you in your career? =- Hungarians doesn't know Elma enough, though the Elma is a hungarian program. I always feel that my mission is to spread it. For example: In the Pc Guru Magazine I ordered the readers to copy Elma into at least 3 school computers as a home-work. I am awaiting results. :) -= Your best achievements in your own opinion? =- The Kuski of Month title :) -= Are you a student or worker? Tell something about that. =- I am a finance college student. I always learn the needed minimum, because I know I will forget everything after exam anyway. My typical grade is 2 (the worst is 1, best is 5). Btw I am a chartered accountant, but I am not too interested in this field. -= How much did you play in your sickest period? How much these days? =- In autumn of 1998, I often played more than 5 hours a day. My sickest record is 6.5 h/day. -= Current best memories of your career? =- The moment when Balazs said that he wants me to help him in the graphics of the new version. The moment when the Pc Guru Magazine accepted my idea of a permanent Elma column. The period when I got a lot of positive reactions about my Elma movies. -= Best Elma friends? (mention about 10 or so) =- In ABC order: Abula, Balazs, Bob, CSabi, Elbono, Gabee, MGen, Timmo, TomCat, Pexi -= Do you have a life when playing elma? =- Lately I play elma only when I don't have other possibilities to do more useful things. Elma always works as a very good medicine to my bad-mood: I can think over my problems with a deeper part of my brain during the game. :) Elma is also able to reassure me when I am nervous. -= Did you have a life before playing Elma?-) =- Before Elma I played 8h/day with the Windows Solitarie... Just kidding :) -= Have you had any girlfriends? =- Yes. But none of them liked to play Elma. -= Why do you have so weird name like a cow have? =- The MUe nickname came about in my age 10. I liked to play pinballs, and there only three characters was accepted in besttime lists. My name is Máté originally, and the MUe is similar to the written shape of it. Only in my age 16 I realised it sounds like a cow burping, but I was loyal to my nick, and said that it is at least unique. -= One of the greatests things in Elma scene are your animations. Any new ones coming? Tell something about them. =- Thanx. Sometimes I get inspiration, and then I am making the project for 1-2 full days. The proccess is: Autodesk Animator Pro for the 2D parts or 3DSMax for 3D, Photoshop to improve, FastTracker for the music, Soundforge for the sounds and synchronizing, and finally Videomach to convert. Well yes, I want to make more, because i enjoy creating a lot. I have ideas too, but not perfect ones. The most important is the really good idea. -= You have made one level for internals, Bowling. You must be happy?-) =- Yes I am. A little story: Once a friend of mine said me this: "I like the game which you gave me, but there is a level, named Bowling, which made me curse the name of Rozsa Balazs." -= OLP: you was the collector of the levels. The feedback has been pretty negative :/. That's sad. =- I got 460 levs altogether. I selected 36. That means I made friends with less than 36, and offended more than 424 ppl. Many of them said "My level was much more better than any of the selected ones." The sad thing is that some ppl was really offended. I am unable to understand them. -= SpockNaX asked me to ask you how about any lgrs? You are so good graphic artist that you really should design own lgr, shouldnt you? =- I have very dark memories about importing graphics (textures, animated objects) into the game... it was very complicated. To be honest, I have never seen the Development Kit... Im afraid of it :) -= Which games do you like beside Elma? =- My first love was Prince of Persia. The idea was a little similar: We had to collect drinks, and open doors, avoid killers, find the exit. I like a game in which I have full freedom to decide what to do. Other fav games: Mortal Kombat1 against other player, Puzzle Bobble, Flashback, Stunts, Warcraft2 multiplayer, Quake2 multiplayer. -= Please write here something about the game, fellow kuskis, moposite, #across, whatever: =- There was a big Elmaparty at my home a few month ago. The four best hungarian player gathered, and played. The surprise of the day was that I invited Rozsa Balazs. The guys didn't know who he is, until he introduced himself :) "Helo, I am Rozsa Balazs" :) He dedicated posters to them, and gone away. About moposite: the best elmasite, I visit it at least once a day. MUe 01 April 2001, (questions by Abula)
