ELMA LAN MEATING 2003 // written by BarTek ========================================================================================= Location: Falkenberg, Sweden Duration: 4-7 July Population: Abula, BarTek, MIF, ramone ========================================================================================= BACKGROUND: I (BarTek) was told that "Hadar" the big game arranger in Sweden was coming to host a Local Area Network for 3 days in a big mofa house in Falkenberg. Some people had put up poster about this event 1 month in advance around my school. The poster said that of the many games played there would be Quake3, Counter Strike, Battlefield and Elastomania :O So i contacted the guy in charge of this and made agrement to come and host all elma stuff for him during the LAN since he would probably be buisy with other mongo heads. This offer gave me free entrence to the LAN and computer to loan, however both MIF and ramone had to pay full price ofcourse hehe. At same time Abula was in Gothenburg visiting hes relatives and decided to pay as a visit during the LAN. ========================================================================================= DAY 1 First day only i was allowed in to set up my elma stuff and brief with the LAN crew what stuff each one of us had planed for this event. I had in advance written my plan for the LAN and presented it to the crew for approvement. My list included competitions such as Level Design, 24h Total, Battles, LGR Design, Hoyla Total and much more. To bad i didnt know at this point what a failure elma would be among the other mongo players in the LAN. The crew even had trophys and other stuff to give out to winners for the elma competitions. At this point i had contacted skint0r and asked to host some mopobattles during the LAN so other could join compete with each other and all irc people. I spread the roumor about abula coming and ofcourse the LAN crew were excited cuz they all knew who abula was. Hes a star ok! ========================================================================================= DAY 2 Second day in the morning ramone and MIF joined me and set up their computers wich took a while. There were supposed to be 4 more official elma players who had booked places next to us but none of them showed up. Later we got started and launched the first official elma battle. But to let people know about elma i had to go up on the stage and talk in microphone and advertise the game for all 100 people. But all the fuckheads were playing Counter Strike all the time and didnt even bother to listen to me. After i talked i wrote a text document and put it up on a big projector screen with info about elma and where to find the game and levels from my computer by network. But my dissapointment grew bigger when nobody didnt even make effort to download the game. So i decided to only hold elma stuff with those around me. Later the newspaper crew came by and made a article about the LAN for the front page next day yeah. ========================================================================================= DAY 3 Third day Abula came in the morning and found his way to the LAN location. I belive he past MIF in the hallway without knowing it before he meat him hehe. I was ofcourse home at sleep at this time and got phone call from ramone that abula had allready arrived. So i had to stopp jerking off and rushed to the LAN with my bike. As i walked in i saw abula playing elma with MIF and ramone and greeted him with handshake and some minor hugging. It could have been kidnapping i thought to myself Haeha!1 We prepared for the first mopobattle but we were told that our internet connection for the whole city had died during the night and wouldnt be fixed for some days. This meant we couldnt play the official mopobattles that were being held later the same day. At this point the elma turned out to be a dissaster but we were happy play for ourselfes anyway. ========================================================================================= DAY 4 The prices from the prevoius day off battles and competion were handed out among us elma players. I (BarTek) was ofcourse home and sleeping over to late cuz when i woke up they had allready kicked everybody out from the LAN place to pack and get the hell out of there. Abula won the 24h Total (wich we reduced to 1 hour instead) and recieved a trophy. We took some more pictures and said our good byes, gay hugs and handshakes were given here too. ========================================================================================= SUMMARY OF FUNNY STUFF DURING THE LAN 1. I was playing on Long Haul and had problem finnishing it for 10 min. ramone who was standing behind me though this was wery amusing and started to laugh horribly much. To bad he had his mouth full of water wich i got all over my back when i was about tho finnish the level. It was very wet and cold i remember. 2. When we played the "Best Hoyla Total" for 2 hours ramone had past everybody and was sure to win. He said now i will play this level to get lower total. I said to myself ok why not try to play same level. With only 5 min left of the 2 hours i invented a new style wich lowered my total with 1 second and made me past ramone and win. Hahah, if he hadnt said anything i wouldnt pass him and he would win. 3. The third day we got the morning newspaper. There was a article about the LAN wich was held in Falkenberg. In the article it said that "Lassi Hekkinen also known as Abula would come all the way from Finland to visit the LAN". Did we laugh or what heh. It probably happened cuz i spread the roumor about abula coming to all people the very first day. 4. As we played the last 5th battle level the time was up and ramone had won. But i asked ramone to give me 3 more minutes to play of good sportmanship. He thought hes time was unbeatable and allowed it. Two minutes later i beated his time with 2 seconds with a totaly new style i came up with. Hahaha! 5. Since abula cant talk swedish so good we had to talk english so he could understand. Everybody mixed swedish with english when telling times to eachother and people sitting behind us thought we were some mongos. 6. The lack of interest among other people in the LAN made me sad. Suthenly i noticed two guys playing on skint0rs old levels and thought i would invite them to join us in our battle. They said they didnt want and wanted to play for themselfes heh. They played skint0rs levels for about 6 hours or so. 7. Abula, ramone and MIF thought it was very amusing that i did all the shortcuts during the 1 hour total competition. But i still dont see the fun in it, do you? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Best total time in 1 hour on internals ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st Abula: 1:18:59:72 2nd ramone: 1:29:23:74 3rd BarTek: 2:08:20:97 4th MIF: 2:09:03:62 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finnish the 6 first internals fastest: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st ramone: 2:42:32 2nd Abula: 3:41:14 3rd MIF: 7:07:18 4th BarTek: 8:17:23 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Best total time in 90 min on Hoyla Levels ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st BarTek: 1:57:58 2nd ramone: 1:58:16 3rd Abula: 1:58,91 4th MIF: 2:00,78 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Best time in 30 min Battle ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LanBat01.lev 1st BarTek: 42,27 2nd ramone: 43,67 3rd Abula: 43,87 4th MIF: 45,09 LanBat02.lev 1st Abula: 42,04 2nd BarTek: 42,11 3rd MIF: 42,95 4th ramone: 43,67 LanBat03.lev 1st BarTek: 44,44 2nd ramone: 45,17 3rd Abula: 46,14 4th MIF: (none) LanBat04.lev 1st Abula: 30,67 2nd BarTek: 30,81 3rd MIF: 31,24 4th ramone: 32,97 LanBat05.lev 1st BarTek: 19,41 2nd ramone: 20,77 3rd Abula: 20,91 4th MIF: (none)
