nDskin by h3rr_fu /nEW dRAMA &h7CF Help file and some other enchancements by PeXi 1. Usage 2. Making your own skins 3. Troubleshooting This program lets you to use skins (like WinAmp) in Across, all this is about is editing across.res file. (Tested only with registered Action SuperCross v1.2, not tested with Shareware version) We take no responsibility of anything if this skin thingie does something harmful to your across/computer. 1. Usage First, make a backup of your Action SuperCross. Simply unzip skin zip file (e.g. standard.zip) to your across folder, REMEMBER YOU MUST UNZIP ALL FOLDERS TOO! (In WinZip, when extracting, check the "Use folder names" box) Then go to your across folder and run the ndskin.exe and type in the name of the skin to be patched. After that, just start Across and enjoy 2. Creating your own skins Unzip with folders e.g. standard sking or what ever working skin. Rename the folder you unzipped them to, e.g. to newskin. Then just edit the pcx pictures, do not change palette or filename. You cannot change the main shape of the bike, you can change lots of other things but remember that the files may NOT be too big, check the file size. If you can't get the file bytesize smaller, try to resize image a bit smaller. Across will automatically resize them when playing. Here are the maximum sizes for each picture: Arm1.pcx 2491 bytes Arm2.pcx 1759 bytes Bakgaff.pcx 1237 bytes Bakskj.pcx 1143 bytes Forgaff.pcx 1217 bytes Hjul.pcx 4881 bytes Hode.pcx 3197 bytes Laar.pcx 1689 bytes Legg.pcx 3908 bytes Ting.pcx 1231 bytes Torso.pcx 3156 bytes After editing pictures, check the file size and run the ndskin.exe and type in the skin name. It automatically tests all pcx pictures, and refuses to patch too big pictures. However, it still patches every small enough pcs into across.res. Then just start Across and enjoy 3. Troubleshooting If Across won't start anymore and says something like this: "Sorry, internal error" , then the across.res might be damaged. The solution is to copy a clear (backupped) across.res onto the damaged one. Report any problems bugs and such to me: herrfu@online.no or PeXi: pexi@pan.nu - h3rr_fu /nD & PeXi
