Again it is time to hold Elma's own awards show: The Golden Apple Awards.

Notes: In the Site category, you don't necessarily vote for the site that is the "best site" overall, but rather the site that has improved the most, increased its relevancy the most, etc, over the past year.
In the Achievement category, the rules have been changed so that one kuski only has one of the nomination spots, making it more similar to the Contribution category. However, you don't have to take this into consideration when submitting your initial nominations.

Instructions of voting process

First step:
You can reply to this topic and tell your favourite candidates in the different categories. Please list clearly the category and then the suggestion(s). Note: You are not allowed to vote in the third step unless you give any suggestions (one is compulsory but more are recommended) in this step. Arguments are appreciated.

Deadline: Tuesday 14 November 23:59 EET

Second step:
The jury will choose ten candidates to each category. The jury members will choose the candidates according to their experience and knowledge (they will be also reading the community's suggestions).

Tentative Deadline: 10 December

Third step:
Now we have top10 for each category available. Now again the Elma community can vote. The criterias for being allowed to vote are: Well-known kuski (decided by the jury) and the kuski have posted some suggestions in the first step (so we see that he has been active during the whole process) OR you don't have to be well-known IF you posted a nice suggestion list with reasonable arguments. You don't have to vote in every category but if you do vote in some category you must pick your top5 and not just top1 or top3. So choose top5 or nothing, is the point.

Deadline: 02 January, 23:59 EET

Fourth step:
The jury will collect the top5 for each category according absolutely to the community votes. The point system will be as follows: 5 points to every first position, 4 points to every second position etc.
This will be the top5 to be used in the final show.

Fifth step:
The different jury members will vote over the different categories, and the community will also give 2 votes to the candidate who got most points in the third step, and 1 vote to the candidate who got the second-most points. The different jury members' votes will not be public. In the event of a tie, the candidate who got most points from community in the third step will win. If there still is a tie, the one who got most 5 points will win, then 4 points etc. If the winner cannot be resolved by this, the jury will come together and discuss the matter to declare a winner.

The final show is held on IRCnet, channel #gaa.

- Level jp1336 This level rox! Won on it in #battle just a few secs later Rav posted a better time, after deadline xD. But it really is a leve lwhich makes you think!
- Designer Jallax Call me crazy but he is a very skilled designer! unlike Zebra and all those he hasn't been in the scene for very long
- Contest Master Cup 2 Unfortunately this cup didn't live up to my expectations. But Zebra and the others really put alot of work to it and therefor it's the best during 2006.

hmm, would be nice if someone made a brief compilation of events in the last year.. i seem to have forgotten a lot of what happened :X

- Battler: me (for the sheer number of battles played lol), perhaps The_OooO (even though he's been dead lately). i'd be compelled to also include markku but he's been quite inactive for a large majority of the year. however we can't forget his overall dominance
- Rookie: Leeland, Honza (if he can be classed as rookie)

- WR: Downhill by zweq (the one currently on the table). perhaps t0r's upside down which i REALLY want to see, must be a sick ride

- Style: anpdad's apple harvest impressed me, even though i've heard mixed opinions as to whether it's faster than the current. i guess xiphias' animal farm was an impressive find too

- Team WNO, 28 internal wrs this year by my count, but also very nice and active team as a whole.
- Internalist Could say tor, but John has come much farther with his internal stats this year
- Externalist axxu is all i ever see on external contests
- Battler jaytea for keeping #battle active. without him around i would have won hundreds of meaningless battles.
- Rookie AKB, max pwnage in mc2

- WR Zweq's Dowhill, mainly because so many thought luther's downhill was absolutely flawless and impossible to beat. zweq's downhill proves that we can expect to see wr tt at 35 someday.

- Replay TorInge's Ramp Frenzy was most appealing. looks sooo hoyled rec to me.

- Contest MasterCup2 cus was an excellent concept to allow 2 skips for this cup. gives people a chance to go away for a 1 week holiday and not be at a disadvantage.

WNO takes my fancy as an internalist team- overtaking the notorious ICE but then there's John- who has particularily caught my eye by a hook as an externalist- he just seems to be able to enter a cup whenever he wants and win an event like taking candy from a baby- in my opinion it is a second nature to you- externals is another way for "Elma Sightreading" in my opinion, and John is a world class master.

- Internalist -> John

I'm basing my desicion on John as best internalist for the sheer improvement on his TT- though still barely in second- the improvement from 37 to 36 mins is just too good- the main reason I didn't choose TorInge is because he has stayed in the same few seconds, though he could've possibly have been better seeing as the WRTT is around 20 seconds better than his own TT. After saying that- John is an inspiration.

- Externalist -> Raven

Most of you would say AxxU as an externalist- but even though he would mainly kick Raven's ass doesn't mean as much to me- Raven is a lot more social- and don't think I held that against AxxU- but Raven has just been more of a friend to me- he doesn't hold a grudge for a ridiculously long time (Dynamo- glad you died) or other ecetera.
But all the social stuff aside- he's plain fucking ownage.

- Battler -> jaytea

Right through from this guy's random funnyness, to the part of him which just keeps winning battles (though I beat him more than 50% of the time

) jaytea has taught us also that he has got drunk and danced with guys as well- but putting that aside- this is a clear choice for me.

- Rookie -> Lukazz

Great guy- just got in 39TT club- and to my knowledge- hasn't been playing for too much longer than I have- (though I usually snap his ass at externals

) but seriously- get on the good side of this guy and you'll have a great elma friend- and by geez- he's not bad at all.

- WR -> Level 54: Apple Harvest: 01:23:35 by John

We all knew it could be done- but for someone to do it- that takes the apple- and this WR wins on principal as well- finally beating it's challenger- Double Trouble- a win I think we'll not see for a while.

- Multi WR -> Level 54: Apple Harvest: 00:40:00 by Marci & Zsolt

Have you ever thought of how good this rec must be? I've seen the mopo rec- and I thought that couldn't of been much better (using that style) but these two have pulled it off. (Would like to see it under 40 though

)

- Style -> "Steppes Brutal"

Y'all know why I chose this style- so sexy, smooth- and the only way a new record is gonna happen people- don't you realise the potential of this style- and though it is so hard- it is soooo worth finishing at least ONCE- seriously- you haven't finished playing elma until you've done this.

- Replay -> Level 10: The Steppes: 00:12:65 by A.K.B.

I'm sorry about voting for myself- but this replay is simply the best for me.
It IS the ultimate skills.

- Level -> MC209.lev "Brick Chili by jonsta"

Say what you will about this level- it has a new feel about it- something that I also felt when I played about in MP's levs (I downloaded them after hearing about them being an inspiration) I like this level because it is tricky- it has plainly obvious styles- and yet- such a big time difference can be made- I like the elements in it- a hang- a "key-combo" jump, and most of all- a fricking annoying ending- but all in all- a quite amazing level- even though I'm not gonna get the result I wanted to get on it.

- Designer -> insane guy

though most of his older levs do not contain grass or many pictures ect. THEY DON'T NEED THEM. You first play through and think- n00bie levs. Then you realise the time and effort put into the making of these levs- the speedups and wacky twists and turns just put his levs over the top- he incorparates all the funnest tricks in his levels, and they keep us occupied for time and time over. Max props to insane guy here- for he is so dedicated- and probably the only kuski to spend more time in the editor then anywhere else in Elma.

- Contest -> Master Cup 2

Reason 1:

This is the only REAL cup I've been in- I think I'm going really well atm, as I'm beating such players as Tm, dz, Ismo, and of course- Zworqy.

Reason 2:

It is organised- from the moment the trailer came out- to the release of the site- the contest had a distinct plan- and it stuck to it.

Reason 3:

It has a twist- now you can have an excuse for missing out on levs- YOU HAVE TO SKIP TWO. Very good twist IMO- it makes you choose the skills you think you have- and put them to the test.

Reason 4:

The levels are sooooo well made- the designers are ace as well (8-ball was a bit slack though- no props to him

) The levels have a flow in them- they have the feel to them as well- something that not many of us can make in a level- the feeling of it being just so- so- good!

Though it doesn't work for me- this opens up one of the biggest possibilities ever- the best players working together- the multi player world records shall eventually fall, and it is all thanks to this piece of genius- Milagros- one of the best (if not the best) Elma programmer EVER.
Next there should be an "Elasto Mania Online" GAME.

- Achievement -> TorInge- Mass WR Steal (14) & Half WR's In Entire Table

My mouth hit the floor when I saw this- 14 world records taken in 1 table- 1 week- that is amazing, and to top it all off- 27 world records in total on that 1 table- making TorInge dominating HALF of the table in total- a feat that will not shortly be repeated!

Last vote of mine HAS to go to the Elmasite- such a nice community- and the layout of the site is awesome- it's very convinient as well- such as the option to upload your replays directly to the site- so it appears on the very post you just submitted- saves the hassle of uploading it to mxb or zworqy- then copying the link around.
Also- it has a great levelpack system- also uploaded directly to the site- so very convinient, and it has a simple voting system- and you can see how much your levelpack is downloaded as well! (hihihihi)

i think these would be really great suggestions for the future golden awards and i'm surprised how come there's no such nominees so far. we could finally figure it out by each and everyone passing their votes on who should wear the real title of a pipe king. would be fun to see
best hoyla award would be a great category as well in the next year. that's a place where even noobs can take an equal fight with the vets.

hmm... btw so is leeland and honza a rookie? i might be dumb but that's the 3rd year like leeland is in the scene already and in few months it will be honzas 4th year that he's playing elma already so i dont understand this category at all. rookie is a newbie of a year 2006 i see, but who are these? no offence leeland but it's not fair in my point of view

There have been several discussions on what categories we should have in previous years (mainly jury discussions, but also suggestions from community) and we think the categories we have now are fine, we don't need anymore. There isn't really a need to specialize "pipe driver" as a different entity.
If you look at the GAA04 thread: http://www.moposite.com/mopolauta/viewtopic.php?t=2632 you see all the different categories that have been suggested.

A rookie is someone who entered the scene in or around the GAA period (which now is December 15th 2005 ->, and who didn't start playing long before that.)

I started on 10th December 2005- so I'm probably the youngest in "Elma years"- hmmm, does that make Abula the "Wrinkly old man"?

EDIT: 5 days away as well- not bad at all....

EDIT 2: That's when I started playing trial version- I got full version around January
